Code of Ethics & Professional Standards

Active membership status is only awarded to active professionals in the field of computer forensics and digital evidence that comply with the standards set forth in the ICFP Code of Ethics and Professional Standards.

If you do not abide by the ICFP Code of Ethics and Professional Standards, your conduct will be subject to examination by the ICFP Board of Directors and your membership can be suspended or revoked.

ICFP member will at all times abide by the following code:

A member agrees to conduct themselves with integrity, impartiality, and diligence in relationships in all matters associated with digital evidence.

A member agrees to maintain objectivity and the highest standards associated with evidence handling.

A member agrees to maintain principles and standards that are compliant with the highest standards in the field of computer forensics.

A member agrees to obtain evidence and or documentation that will establish a reasonable basis for any opinions presented.

All members must not be charged or convicted of legal misdoings associated with felony matters.

A member agrees to testify truthfully in any proceedings and comply with all legal instructions of the courts.

ICFP members have a responsibility to maintain the highest ethical standards and to demonstrate integrity, impartiality, diligence and professionalism. ICFP members who become aware of any violation of the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards have a responsibility to report such violations to the ICFP Board of Directors.
